As of 26/5/2021, VIFA has raised 100 ventilators, equal to over 10 billion VND from Vingroup and 221 million VND from different organisations and individuals, to give timely gifts to India.

On 11/5/2021, the President of VIFA, the Minister of Information and Communication Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, gifted the ventilators to Indian Ambassador Pranay Verma. On 21/5/2021, the first batch of ventilators reached Indira Gandhi National Airport in New Delhi, which were then transported to hospitals in India. On 27/5/2021, Mr. Hà Minh Huệ, Vice President of VIFA, transferred 221 million VND to Vietnam Red Cross, then the Vietnam Red Cross will send it to India Red Cross, as agreed by the Indian Embassy in Vietnam.

The gifts express the much appreciated love from the people of Vietnam to show solidarity with the people of India in the crisis, even though at the moment Vietnam is in the midst of the fight against the Covid pandemic.

Before this, on 6/5/2021, the Central Committee of VIFA had issued a letter to the branches of VIFA in Vietnamese cities and provinces, the friends of India organisations and individuals to call for donation supporting the people of India in the pandemic. Knowing that there are the needs of medical equipment in India, Vingroup corporation donated the afore-mentioned ventilators, while many other organisations and individuals contributed fund to show solidarity with the people of India.

Responding to the call, VIFA branches in Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Yen, Binh Duong, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City…, and organisations such as the Centre of India Studies of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Buddihsm sharing group, Research and Development Center for Radiation Technology, Department of International Relations of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality… circulated the call for empathy and solidarity among their members and staff.

Initially, the call was internally circulated within VIFA. Then, some organisations and individuals from outside of VIFA joined the campaign. Some voluntarily transferred their contribution through banks while some others face-to-face met with VIFA president board at the head-quart, 105A Quán Thánh Street, to donate. To mention some of them: Centre of India Studies of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vietnam Atomic Energy, staff from Vietnamese Embassy in India, and many others who requested to be unnamed, they share the common love for the country and people of India, and their donation ranges from 300 thousands to 3 million VND.

Vietnam and India have strong traditional relationships. The friendship between the two countries was firmly founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and has been developed by many generations of national leaders and peoples. India supported Vietnam in the previous defense wars, and has been supporting and helping Vietnam in the cause of national building and defence nowadays.
