Beyond Indian Ocean: India in a broader context of Indo-Pacific emergence (Part 1)
Traditionally, the Indian Ocean region and the Pacific one had been considered separately in the domain of international affairs. However, with the growing strategic interactions between the two regions, particularly ones between the northern part of Indian Ocean region and the western part of the Pacific Ocean region, the above situation has changed. It is unavoidable to take into account of East Asian-Pacific factors while talking about international affairs in the Indian Ocean region. India as a major player in the Indian Ocean region with emerging strategic interests and interactions in the East Asia-Pacific region appears to be the best case while adopting this perspective.
